Just across the bridge from Nassau (New Providence Island), the resort is surrounded by miles of beautiful beachfront, and set amidst a mythical landscape designed to recreate the beauty and grandeur of the legendary civilization of Atlantis.
Occupying 34 acres of 4-mile-wide Paradise Island, which connects to downtown Nassau via two bridges, the Atlantis resort dates to the 1960s, when it was called Paradise Island and operated largely as a casino destination. Adopting the mythical Lost Continent of Atlantis motif in the 1990s, the resort expanded into a family destination featuring vast water-park and marine-life attractions.
Atlantis includes a health-and-beauty spa, a fitness center, children's and teen clubs, a nightclub, a comedy club, 21 restaurants, the 50,000-square-foot casino, and shopping malls and provides access to 3 miles of Atlantic Ocean beach and a private golf course.
Beach Tower, which was the resort's first tower and provides the most tranquil setting, offers the least expensive accommodations. Guestrooms are a bit smaller than the Coral Towers' and significantly smaller than the Royal Towers'.
Amenity highlights: All Atlantis' facilities and attractions are readily accessible from all three towers. Beach Tower contains Club Rush teen center, Joker's Wild Comedy Club, and a theater where complimentary movies are screened. Adjacent to the tower are Lazy River (tube) Ride, River Pool, and Poseidon's Kid's Pool. Also adjacent are the marine-life exhibits Hibiscus Lagoon, Seagrapes Lagoon and viewing tunnel, and Stingray Lagoon. Close by are Goombay Water Slide & Baths, a long slide and a series of spas cut into an artificial-rock formation.
Insider tip: Beach Tower is the closest Atlantis tower to the beach, but the rooms are older.
Atlantis resort guests share with One&Only Ocean Club resort guests exclusive access and complimentary shuttle service to the Tom Weiskopf-designed 18-hole championship Ocean Club Golf Course on Paradise Island (fees charged).
